A Thrilling Quadruple Overtime Canucks Win

Posted on April 12th, 2007 by Ed Lau

I can barely believe it.

I was ready to accept that I’d still be watching the game well into the morning, that perhaps time and space no longer existed after four overtime periods and was actually preparing myself to endure a fifth. After all, I was not one of the bandwagon jumpers. I consider it dishonorable to leave before the game is over, regardless of what time it is or what I might have to do.

The boys didn’t disappoint, winning the longest game in Canucks history after Hennrik Sedin potted a great goal at the end of the fourth overtime. Roberto Luongo was once again spectacular, stopping over 70 shots. Everyone on the team stepped up, including our disappointing captain who was playing like it was 2002. Yep, it was like the Markus Naslund of old tonight. He was playing like he was inspired, leading by example. So too was Jan Bulis, who I said I would trade for half a bag of used pucks, but he was playing physical with a great deal of speed. I raised his value to at least five bags of pucks by the end of the night.

I’m so psyched and very tired so please excuse the poor sentences. My friends and I were jumping and yelling all over the place. This was a huge win for our team. Good job, boys. Happy Birthday to Trevor Linden and Alexandre Burrows, by the way. Go Canucks Go!

I was shocked to see the final scoreboard at work. I had watched into the 2OT when I had to start freakin work. Who would’ve thought the game would go on for so much longer!

I saw them play our LA Kings once. At first I was, of course, cheering for the Kings but there were two Canucks fans sitting near us who were being harrased by a ton of Kings fans so I started cheering for the Canucks instead. Canucks won that game. =)

    Hey Ed,

I need your help! I’m going to attempt to set a Guinness World Record and I need as much help promoting as possible.

The record I’m going to try and set is the longest blog comment string ever. For more details you can see the post here: World Record Attempt
