All In One SEO At Work

Posted on July 5th, 2007 by Ed Lau

I admit that I’m not by any standards an SEO expert so when John told me about this plug-in, All In One SEO, that would do it all for me last week, I went and downloaded it immediately since, well, it couldn’t be any worse than having me do it myself since I have no idea what I’m doing most of the time.

By simply installing the plugin, I’ve seen a small boost in search engine traffic which I attribute to the proper description you get for my posts as well as probably a better position on Google now that I type keywords in for it.

Prior installing All In One SEO, every post would have the same description, which was rather useless, really. This and Optimal Title, I think, are absolutely essential to all Wordpress blogs.

Speaking of Optimal Title, I’m sure that it and All In One SEO had something to do with the upward spike in traffic I experienced today as I’m on the first page (albeit near the bottom) for the search term “transformers movie review”.

This has to be hot right now considering the Transformers movie Tuesday box office earnings of $27.4M absolutely bitch-slapped the previous record holder Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, which was the previous high for a Tuesday opening at $15.7M. Transformers has so far grossed $36.2M (which includes the $8.8M it earned in four hours on Monday for preview screenings), which is very, very impressive for a mid-week summer opening. I know I didn’t give it the best ratings because honestly as a movie, it’s not going to win any awards but there was really no doubt it would make a killing at the box office.

I’ve been using this plugin for about 2 months, and it works like a charm. I take advantage of it when I can.

did you have to go back and edit your older posts? wouldn’t those be missing keywords then?

Nope, you don’t have to manually update your older posts. By default, it will take the first 25 words of each post and use it as the description.

I think it would be smart to go back and edit your “marquee” posts though!
