Left 4 Dead
I really need to find more time in the day. This is one of those “perfect storm” times of the year when tons of quality games come out and there’s simply not enough time to play them all. I saw a video for Left 4 Dead the other day and was convinced that [...]
Read MoreAnd 14 Hours Later…I’m In Taiwan

Actually, right now, it’s been about 18 hours since I left Vancouver. The flight was actually much less of a horror than I expected and now, I’m finally in Taiwan where Michael, Stephen and I have a makeshift office set up in our hotel room. John, who is leaving camera batteries everywhere, is staying at another hotel, I believe.

My flight between Vancouver and Japan was great since the plane was probably about half full. I had a row of three seats on the 747-400 all to myself so I could easily relax and sleep. I had been up for roughly 30 hours prior to the flight but sleeping on a plane is always rather difficult. The only thing better than having empty seats beside you on a plane is having supermodels beside you on a plane.
Going to Taiwan was much less pleasant since I had to wait at Narita for a couple hours for my connecting flight and Japan, of all places, doesn’t have free Wi-Fi at their biggest airport. Then I’m crammed into a small plane for four hours where everyone seems to like reclining.
I honestly can’t imagine being in Taiwan for an extended period of time. It’s so hot and humid here, even at night. I also couldn’t imagine driving here. When I get a chance, I’ll make a video of the scooters, the crazy traffic and the totally psycho cab drivers. I thought I drove rather quickly…but these guys are all insane! It’s interesting to see that nearly every car has GPS and a TV built-in, though. My cab had a GPS built into the passenger seat so I could see where we were, how fast we were going, etc.

More tomorrow…I’m exhausted and even I can see that I’m starting to…not make any sense.

Gotta love jetlag when you body just stops functioning and you can barely crawl to the bed anymore.
ReplyWhat plane did you get on? When my family and I went to Japan from LAX, the whole plane was full with Asians and Indians. We were on the Singapore Airlines, which was supposedly voted the best aircraft. Seeing those “supermodels” walk by was amazing

ReplyYou must remember to drink a lot of water on these flights. It really does help. Also try and walk around every 3-4 hours. Helps with the cramps.
ReplyFind it hard to sleep on a plane after 30 hours of being awake and yet complaining? Pathetic. I’ve been on buses full of kids (armed with pens, making sleep dangerous) with Braveheart blaring out of a speaker above my head for 48 hours, from South Wales to Italy. AND I had to stay awake for the rest of the day after that…
(The way back was in two shorter trips, partly because of a blizzard and the help of one country’s army…)
ReplyOuch, I am not sure I could endure a flight that long. I’ve never been very comfortable sleeping on the plane, mostly because I tend to snore quite loudly and prefer not to have people throwing things at me to shut me up.
ReplyYeah its hard for my on the 4.5 hr flight to vegas….that long of a flight would kill me!
