Back on Technorati

by Ed Lau on June 28, 2007

A few days ago, I discovered that my Technorati stats weren’t moving at all. Not only could I not see incoming links but my site had disappeared off the site completely, giving me the dreaded “Oops…I have no idea what the #*%& you were looking for, Ed.” screen. Naturally, this was a big problem since so many advertisers like Text Link Ads and ReviewMe uses Technorati rankings to gauge a blog’s popularity and therefore, monetary value. John Chow recently saw his ReviewMe price and rating drop because Technorati was messing with his rankings, albeit temporarily. It also looks like Derrich is experiencing the same problem.

So I e-mailed Technorati support to find out what’s going on. Did they ban me for some reason? Well, I wasn’t given any sort of answer other than they made some adjustments, sent spiders to index my page again and it looks like all’s well. They were pretty quick with it too. My rankings have updated to 8,934 with 227 people adding me as a Technorati favorite, a nice increase from a week ago. During this time, I also couldn’t see incoming links so if you linked to me with something you would like my feedback or participation on, please leave me a message at the beep and I’ll get back to you.

It would have been nice if they had explained the problem, oh well, at least your site is getting indexed again!

I noticed that the “inbound links” thing in Wordpress wasn’t updating for me this past little while. At first I thought that no one was linking to me, but when I poked around, I saw a few new links. They just weren’t showing up for whatever reason.

I’ve noticed that too, the list in the Dashboard isn’t being updated very often anymore…

Is this a bug in WordPress 2.2.1? :?:
