Beckham to leave Real Madrid at the end of this season

Posted on January 10th, 2007 by Ed Lau

So reports are that Real Madrid will not be renewing David Beckham’s contract. Not surprising really since he hasn’t started any games so far for the new coach of the Galacticos, Fabio Capello. There has been speculation for some time now that Real would sell Beckham to another club when the transfer window was open. The strong rumor at the moment was that Beckham would be transfered to the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS with tabloids reporting that Posh has been in LA looking for a place.

I wrote a bit on this awhile back, to briefly analyze the affect of a star of David Beckham’s caliber (even if he is getting a bit old…) would have on the MLS.

Seems like that day is fast approaching.

UPDATE: It seems as though that author of that article misquoted.  Beckham’s two year extension is still on the table and what Real meant was that it is not finalized.  Either way, I’d still bet on him getting moved rather than signing again.
