Left 4 Dead
I really need to find more time in the day. This is one of those “perfect storm” times of the year when tons of quality games come out and there’s simply not enough time to play them all. I saw a video for Left 4 Dead the other day and was convinced that [...]
Read MoreBlog Activity Slowing Down In The Summer Heat?
On Saturday at Dot Com Pho, Michael Kwan, Greg Morgan and I discussed the recent drop in traffic we had seen over the past two weeks. After months of steadily increasing readership and unprecedented highs in May, traffic began to decrease in June.
Lately, however, I’ve noticed that a lot of blogs have decreased their frequency of updates starting in June. Blogs that used to be updated every day or every other day are now three or four days between updates, which leads me to think that with summer upon us, bloggers and blog readers are slowing down because it’s not like there’s been a lack of things to talk about lately either. Personally, I see the change of season as an opportunity to mix up the regular topics. More play. Less work.
I can certainly see why, really. The sunshine is a lot more attractive than the glow of an LCD. I can’t wait to buy a new bike this week so I can go ride in the great weather we’ve been having (well, except that hurricane on Saturday…).

Website traffic in general, not just blogs, slows down during the summer. I know we experienced the same thing last year at Mobile Magazine. It’s also typically slow over the Christmas break… but it spikes just before Christmas (people looking for gift ideas, perhaps).
Replyyea i know i don’t wanna be in front of my computer during the summer. my apologies for now if comments fall off until the fall
ReplyPlus the fact that people leave their laptops behind when they go on vacation.
ReplyAll the TV shows are done and same with sports right now so there are less things to comment about.
I’ve been wondering where you were.
I agree, Ed. Summer is slow.
Replyuh oh… will that be cutting into ed’s content??
maybe we’ll get to read about all of the fabulous summertime block buster movies that will be coming out soon!
ReplyI remember reading somewhere than one in five people bring their laptops with them on vacation. That’s not a small percentage.
ReplyIt’s hard to stay inside when the weather is so nice outside. Regardless, blogging will go on!
ReplyI’ve been so busy with work that I simply do not have the time nor energy to make regular posts. When I’m on set for 12+ hours a day the computer is the last place I wanna be.
ReplyI took my 10″ Sony Vaio backpacking through Europe!
It was only like three pounds…
ReplyI take my laptop with me on vacation. But I’m usually not on it much… just for emergencies and emails.
