Blue Pho!
February 3rd, 2007 by Ed Lau |So as I said on Thursday, Gary from BlueFur (the company that hosts my site) would be joining us today at our weekly pho. At twelve attendees, I believe this is probably one of our largest parties for pho ever. A bunch of them keep calling it fur but the proper pronunciation, I’m told, is closer to saying “fuh”…but we all call it “foe” anyways.
Among those at Pho Lan today was the root of all evil, John Chow, his wife Sarah and their adorable baby Sally, who has stopped frowning at me and was more willing to play today, the comment whore Michael Kwan, who tops all our “top commenter” lists on all our blogs, Paul Mudhar, who posts once in a blue moon…somedays, Greg Morgan and Stephen Fung, who is about to release his own series of CD/DVD sets of his spoken word.

While not many ventured further than the #10 (rare beef and beef balls), some of us were a bit more adventurous. John got a spicy soup with pig knuckles and I got some tripe with my rare beef and flank. The funniest thing was that Gary thought that Pho Lan took credit cards! Oh man, you know he doesn’t come to Richmond often…

Sounds like you guys had a great time. It’s funny how all the blogs post about their “pho” experience at the same time, so you get a different take on the day each time!
I still don’t get why John calls it “fur” and tells all his friends this… I’ve been correcting him on it for like 7 years, and have even given him audio recordings of it being said properly… I think he’s just doing it to be evil
I love how we all decided to post about that pho party, and in each of the entries on our blogs, we all mention that I’m a comment whore. Yup, because that’s the reputation I want to have
I still don’t get the whole “fur” business either. I never heard anyone pronounce it that way until I met you guys.

McDonalds should start serving Pho. Really. It’s the greatest food and makes me wonder how I ever learned to eat some of the miserable food brought to me by my western world.
Looks like you guys had a great time. Wish I was there!
