It’s been almost four years since we started holding Dot Com Pho regularly and filming it as a weekly video. Even before that, myself, John and friends would meet up to eat and chat whether that was over some Vietnamese noodles, burgers, barbecue or terrible Chinese food in the middle of the night.
But this week, John leaves us as he heads to Seattle and then possibly sunnier weather in California. What does this mean for the future of Dot Com Pho? Well, we’ve discussed plenty of possibilities. Personally, I’d like the rest of us to keep meeting up for food, conversation and laughter. I’ll also head down to Seattle and crash at John’s place once in awhile. Heck, when we all get iPhone 4’s, John can join us literally via satellite…or FaceTime. I think the biggest difficulty is gathering guys like iPhone Gary, Greg and Stephen now that we all live so far apart so some definite changes coming but I’m sure the bloggers of Vancouver will continue to be a strong community.
Of course, we could always go with my idea…where John, myself and probably Stephen and Michael do a weekly podcast together. We wouldn’t need to be in the same physical space to do it and, well, things would basically be exactly the same…a bunch of idiots talking about random stuff.

Funny, I’ve not been paying too much attention and missed that John was moving.
I kinda wanted to someday visit Vancouver and meet you all at Dot Com Pho. I hope the group still stays together. It’s always been fun to watch and read about.
I want to continue the DCP tradition in Vancouver, but who among us will shoot/edit/publish the video? The podcast idea could work.
Dot Com Pho. All time hits. Their was fun watching video. Hope it continues always.
aww that is sad to hear. It is never fun when good friends move away but like you said you now have a reason to travel. Your right there is no reason you guys can’t do a podcast.
I hope that Vancouver will continue doing good and you guys will see fun earlier.
Ed Lau – this was great – really enjoyed it and wish I had seen it in person. Thanks! Ed Lau
Looking like a great farewell. Every time when someone departs or leave the place its really hurting.
Very good article. It always come down to good content that people are interested in. Thank you for the guidelines.
just curious who pays the bill at the end? or does john pay it off and write it off later?
We all pay our own way… unless we find a sponsor.
Yeah, I was wondering who pays. But since John is leaving, I’m assuming you guys pay for your own stuff.
Will be interesting to see how the podcast turns out if that is what you guys decide to do but yeah I am sure it won’t be the same excitement as I can see in this video. I guess sometimes all good things must come to an end
Till then,
Jean
I doubt Dot Com Pho will end. I’ll keep updating DotComPho.com with whatever videos we end up doing.
That’s great to Hear Michael
Like I said will be interesting to see how it all plays out with John Chow moving away, looking forward to see what it brings for Dot Com Pho
