Ebisu on Robson

EBISU, Robson

Every so often, the staff of REVscene.net like to get together over some good food, bitch about internet being serious business and make obscene sexual references at inappropriate times. One of our favorite places to do so is EBISU, owned and operated by longtime friend and member Deon. This isn’t the first time I’ve mentioned Ebisu here. You can check out my previous entry here.

I arrived late since I was eating with my family for my birthday earlier so I didn’t order much. I originally planned on just drinking brewery’s worth of beer but I couldn’t resist some of the more unique and delicious dishes on the menu so I decided to have an appetizer anyways…in addition to all the beer.

I ordered the Cajun Tuna Tacos, which is this fantastically presented row of four mini-tacos. They’re made with fresh tuna, seared and covered with a light ginger dressing with some shredded lettuce and tomato. There’s a small dollop of caviar as well. They were delicious and light, which was perfect since I just polished off a prime rib like an hour earlier.

We stayed for a couple hours so by the end of the night, I wanted a desert. I pretty much love coconut everything so I went with the coconut ice cream with a mango sorbet center and a fresh mango puree on top. It was a bit too frozen for me but I have rather sensitive teeth so it’s probably okay for everyone else. Still very good and not too sweet.

There’s a wide variety on the menu, which ranges from sushi and sashimi to raw oysters and various teriyaki dishes. I tried some of the rolls my friends ordered and they’re on par with other good sushi restaurants.

There are several big screens in the main dining area with the hockey game on so it’s a pretty good place to munch on some wings and cheer for the Canucks as well.

Ebisu is located on the corner of Robson and Bute in Vancouver - 827 Bute St. to be exact - and it comes highly recommended by me. I’ll probably be going again quite soon.

I went to Ebisu for our “Nezumi” wrap party. I don’t remember eating anything though, but I sure drank a lot.

    You’re missing the link.

I’ve never been to Ebisu, largely because it’s on Robson and I’m not a fan of looking for (and paying for) parking downtown.

LOL, parking is free after 8pm and is in abundance on weeknights.
