Eight Fun Facts About Ed Lau

by Ed Lau on July 7, 2007

I’ve been tagged by Michael, Saman, and Gary to list eight fun facts about myself. I think I’ve said quite a bit about myself from previous posts so it was actually rather difficult finding new things to say about myself. I mean, there’s plenty but most of the time, you don’t really remember until you just…remember for no good reason. Anyways, without further adieu…

This is how it works.

  • Each player must post these rules first.
  • Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
  • People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
  • At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
  • Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
  • Credit goes to Christian for this.

Eight Fun Facts About Me Are:

  1. Despite several severe physical injuries in my lifetime, I have never broken a bone. Drink yo’ milk, kids.
  2. I have several burn marks on my left arm from homemade tasers my friends and I made back in high school from disposable cameras. I made several, including one that had huge capacitors that discharged several batteries in one burst. This is the only one I could find.

  3. I am an only child.

  4. I really love gadgets. I’ve had a variety of phones, PDAs, laptops, digital cameras or combinations of these since I started making decent money when I graduated high school. The turnover rate is especially high with mobile phones since they’re as much a fashion accessory as a tool. I don’t think I’ve ever owned one for more than a year. The first (but not last) time I spent over $1000 on a phone was in was on a Sony Ericsson P800 when it first came out in 2003.
  5. I skipped over 75% of my classes in my last year of high school and ended up with a 1.67 GPA by the end of the year. Despite this, I still got into one of the best schools in the country, my first (and only) choice, the University of British Columbia, since at the time, admission was only determined by four courses…so I got a 90% average in those and skipped the rest. I even had a scholarship for two years.
  6. I mentioned before how I’m not very welcome in the state of Oregon for…uh…traffic violations but locals cops don’t like me much either. When I first got my license, I was a bit out of control…raking up tickets for as much as triple the speed limit. However, the last speeding ticket I’ve gotten was almost three years ago. I have never been in a car accident.

  7. I used to really be into J-pop music. Mostly because I was going out with a Japanese girl at the time and she introduced me to all that sort of stuff. Today, I don’t know who’s who anymore. I did listen to a bit back in high school too because that stuff was in back then. I share a birthday (same year too) with J-pop star Utada Hikaru. X-JAPAN still owns, though. TEARS is one of the best rock power ballads regardless of language.

  8. I can never remember anything useful but I have a photographic memory for entirely useless information. I could tell you the lyrics to Ice Ice Baby but probably not, say, what time I have to go to work today…or even what day it currently is.

Alright, here’s who’s next…blogs that haven’t yet done this.
