Fallout 3: News In A Month
May 5th, 2007 by Ed Lau |![]() |
The Fallout series is right up there with the best games I’ve ever played so you could guess how ecstatic I was when I heard they were making a third. After the sequel came out in 1998 and Tactics in 2001, there were several false alarms on the development of Fallout 3 since the developer, Black Isles, went out of business shortly afterwards. Fortunately, Bethesda picked up the license and production officially began after they finished with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. A trailer for the new game is set for June 5th on the official site.

The Fallout world is set after a massive nuclear world war and there’s glowing radioactive goo everywhere and mutants that want to kick your ass. The enviroment is a mix of 1950’s style and futuristic weapons like railguns and plasma rifles. The storylines and dialogue are well written but most of all, the turn-based combat system is fun as hell for an RPG. If you’ve never played it, I seriously recommend Fallout 2. It’s a pretty old game so it won’t be easy to find but I’m sure you can find it for a download since it’s probably not published anymore.

Hey Ed - call me blind, but I couldn’t seem to find a contact form on your blog. What the heck…
Just wanted to say that I think your blog is fantastic!
No no, the game is still published, you can find it in several budget versions, in CD or DVD.
Can’t wait for this game! I’ve still got the original Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. All fun as hell and great classics!
Glad Bethesda took over too, if they take a franchise like Fallout and run it like they ran Oblivion, it should continue to be a great game.
