First Ride On My New Bike
June 14th, 2007 by Ed Lau |Woohoo…my legs feel like jelly.
I haven’t been riding for about a year now so to get back to doing it felt great and my new bike rides great. It was a great day out with the sun shining and just over 20 degrees Celsius. Unfortunately, I forgot to put a memory card in my camera before I left the house and by the time I realized it, I couldn’t be bothered to go home and get one. Oh well, maybe tomorrow. I don’t like seeing clean tires so I should put another good coat of dirt on them tomorrow as well.

Some things I need recommendations (and…well, reminders to purchase in the near future). First of all, I need a new helmet. I rode without one today felt alright even though I was a bit more conscious of it than usual. I was looking at the Fox Flux but I’m not sure where I can get one around here. I’m not going to be downhilling so I don’t think I need a full helmet. I would like to look at some in carbon fiber though…since I love carbon fiber anything.
I also need something in a bike computer to keep track of distance and such but I’m not sure what to look for. Any suggestions?

Hi Ed - almost all of the helmets at your local bike shop will do the job - they are all good these days. Find one that is comfortable. That Fox Flux is an excellent option. My advice is to always wear one - I have seen too many bad injuries from “lidless” crashes to ever ride without one. I have a cateye micro wireless computer and it does the job for me without breaking the bank. Great bike - enjoy it.
