Grey Cup Fever!

by Ed Lau on November 19, 2006

As I type this now, the Lions and Alouettes are beginning the 94th Annual Grey Cup and it looks to be a classic.  The Lions are a 8 point favorite to win and everything points to a Lion’s victory.  The Lions have easily been the best team in the CFL this year with a stifling defense and a ridiculous offense that sports three incredible quarterbacks.  I should also mention that the Lions dominated Montreal in both games they played against each other this year.
Of course, let’s not forget that the Roughriders beat B.C. in all four games this year and they got owned last week.  Anything can happen.

Who is this chick singing the national anthem?  Nice switching between English and French.

I’ll let you guys in on a little secret: I can’t help but…um, cry during the national anthem, especially when the crowd sings along.  Same can be said about any sort of Canucks montage.  There’s just something emotional about 60,000 people singing out national anthem that always gets me and today is no exception.  I found it a little hilarious that the planes appeared to be late in flying over the field.  Seemed like a good minute between the end of the national anthem and the jets flying overhead.
Good luck to both teams…but, let’s hope for a Lion’s championship!

That chick singing the national anthem was Eva Avila, the 2006 Canadian Idol winner from Gatineau, Quebec.
