If you happen to be one of the twelve people left in the world that doesn’t own a George Foreman grill, you’ll just have to tell me why not. If you haven’t heard of the George Foreman grill, well…I hear it’s quite nice in Amish towns and Papua New Guinea.
Personally, I believe that if vegetables are to be cooked, then they should be grilled. Boiling removes most of the nutrients and therefore, negates any reason for eating them in the first place and steaming is just boring. Baking takes far too long, pan frying requires some oil or else it sticks and deep frying just makes it pointless as your veggies are in a crust of…well, oil. There’s nothing like some grill marks and such to accentuate the flavor of just about anything.
While it would be fantastic to fire up that grill every time you feel like grilling something, usually I just can’t be bothered. It takes too damned long and during the winter months, you just don’t want to cook outside. While a Foreman grill doesn’t quite taste as good as a real fiery charcoal grill, it’s easy to clean up and cooks stuff quickly, especially vegetables.

When school’s out and I have more time to cook and exercise, I’m going to make a serious commitment to eat and live healthier. However, for now, I’m sticking to replacing snacks which may usually be something starchy or fat covered with grilled veggies. While I still refuse to eat celery, green beans and lima beans, I love asparagus, mushrooms, carrots and zucchini. Grilled zucchini in particular is delicious…doesn’t it look great?

Agreed with everything
How is the grilled asparagas?
I’m so used to just steaming it I can’t really imagine grilling it?
Asparagus makes your pee smell.
The grill’s hard to wash cuz the top portion doesn’t pop off… they should make it machine washable.
Mine has removable top and bottom grilling surfaces.
dang that looks good! i’d throw in some sun-dried tomatoes too for zest. mmmmmmm…………
