Heading Home (and Question For Readers)

by Ed Lau on August 16, 2008

Akihabara, Akiba, Tokyo, Japan, Japanese, crosswalk

In a few hours, I’ll be on JAL flight 018 bound for YVR.

Honestly, it’s not that I don’t want to see my family and friends at home but there’s so much to do in Tokyo that even the two and a half or so months I’ve spent here is not nearly enough time. Heck, I think I could be here on a permanent basis and still not see the whole of Tokyo. You would be surprised to hear how many locals have never been to some of the great hotspots in the city. Few have eaten at Tsukiji Fish Market, seen a sumo match live or partied all night in Roppongi. This truly is an amazing city for all of us who feel our hometowns could stand to have a few more things to do. I think I’ll be back in a year or two. There are some other places I’d like to live or travel to in the meantime but I will definitely be back in Japan soon.

Seriously, I’ve got pictures and stuff to talk about on Japan for probably a month or so at my regular blog pace of once a day, which I’ll get back to probably on the 19th or 20th of this month. Stuff like…

  • Yoyogi Park street musicians
  • How I was caught up in a riot…sort of on purpose…
  • Hakone…resort town about an 90 minutes outside Tokyo
  • Akihabara…the wackiest place on earth
  • …and restaurant reviews. Lots of them.

I’ll probably post like normal on current events, Dot Com adventures, music and other awesomeness like I usually do but I’ll probably also continue to blog on my Japan voyage for the near future.

I’ll be on a tight schedule when I get off the plane…since I’ll almost immediately head for Dot Com Rock Band…and then a series of…well, I’m not quite sure. However, if anyone would like to throw me a ticker tape parade or present me with lavish gifts for my triumphant return to a country with a much lower wackiness quotient, then I would be honored. I am also not opposed to delicious cake.

G$ shifted the time to 2:30 to give his pigsty a cleaning. Bring your pizza and beer appetite ;)

Welcome home Ed! Does this mean you are coming back to ‘work’? It’s funny that a certain manager hasn’t been sleeping well lately.
