How I Met Your Mother, Season 3: Premier Review
October 5th, 2007 by Ed Lau |
I just can’t get enough of this show. There is probably only one comedy on TV that I’d say is better than How I Met Your Mother and that’s The Office, which is close to invincible on Thursdays.
Last season left off with Ted and Robin breaking up, which was inevitable, really. Despite great mystique that surrounds these two of the main characters, personally, I was glad to see them separate since Single Ted is so much more fun than In-a-Relationship Ted. We also saw Marshall and Lily finally get married and Barney…be Barney.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the season started out particularly great. This doesn’t mean the show wasn’t funny because it was. In fact, HIMYM on a bad day is still better than 99% of the current TV schedule. I just felt like they tried to cram too much into the first episode with guest appearances by Mandy Moore, as a badass tattooed chick, and Enrique Iglesias, as Gael…who is basically Enrique Iglesias although he’s a masseuse. There were some great moments but I think the best ones are the outtakes (under “How It Really Happened”) on NBC.com, which include Barney and Ted setting the ground rules in a hot tub.
Also, if you were watching last season, you’ll know Marshall has used two of his five slaps from the “Slap Bet” episode. In case you’re wondering when the third will be, I suggest you check out SlapCountDown.com.
Regardless, I expect HIMYM to pick up steam by the end of the season. The show may be revealing who the “Mother” is (and it’s not Robin) this season so this remains one of my must-watch shows. It was in some danger of being canceled after last year (mostly due to CBS being stupid and not promoting it at all, really) so spread the word. This show is the new Friends…except way better.

you make it sound like its great show!
well we don’t get How I Met Your Mother here, and cable too expensive for me
Definitely like the second episode of the season. Last night was pretty good as well. I like how they turned “The Slap Bet” into a whole running gag thing…
