Visiting Union Gospel Mission
John Chow, Stephen Fung, Greg Morgan and I were invited down to UGM today to have some lunch and hear about some of the new stuff they’ve been doing lately. We’re always glad to go down to UGM as well as help them raise some funds to help folks in need over the holidays.

Some of us modify our cars to make them more unique, better looking and possibly faster but it seems that some people do it while thinking “Hmmm, what’s the fastest way to fuglify my car? I’m not sure it’s ugly enough.” It’s true. Behold this abomination that was in front of me this morning. I’m not sure what would possess anyone to do a vinyl of a dragon (and not even a badass looking dragon) on their rear window but it has to be something close to insanity…and that’s not even accounting for the danger factor.
That’s before you look at the fart pipe. You can’t see it but they also have chrome (actually plastic…) hubcaps and some equally ugly vinyl graphics on the side. I couldn’t take a picture of that since…well, I was driving and that would’ve been dangerous…or more dangerous. I was already trying to hold down the projectile vomit that was sure to come if I looked at it any longer.
I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but this is a stretch. It’s like someone telling me Rosie O’Donnell is attractive…

Replythat’s afghan pimping, man I laugh my ass off every time I see them riding their “pimped” out cars.
Plastic chrome spinners, plastic chrome plugs for the end of the exhaust pipe, fake shit you put on the hood to have it “look” like a carbon fibre one.
What more, ow yes most creative lights, I’ve seen those plastic tube lights meant for children being wrapped under the cars, which just looks hilarious and stupid.
We have to many of those cheap wannabe modified cars in my town, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry whenever I see one.
The most embarrassing one I’ve seen here yet is the brown-yellowish (poo coloured) Nissan micra that has all of the above mentioned accessories.

ReplyWe have a couple cars in Milwaukee that are legendary. Someday, I will grab a shot of one and let you know when I post it.
Even worse, my mom was a kindergarten teacher for one of the owners and once in a while he stopped by our business to make copies of papers. He is one reason we got rid of the copy machine. Sometimes we were lucky, he parked across the street.

Rosie O’Donnell would be hot if she lost about 50 pounds . . . maybe. But her voice would give me an instant softy.

ReplyWow… thats awesome. Unfortunately, as dangerous as that is the law allows it. However, slap on any shade of tint on the side windows (Front) and you get slapped with a ticket. Go figure.
ReplyI always love it when I see a piece of crap car that the owner has tried to pimp with mods. A favorite of mine is when you see a car where one rim, let alone all four, are worth more than the entire car.
Replyjeez, roll through anywhere in LA and you’ll see the wackest of the wack cars. maybe not as wack as having a lame ass dragon spanning the length of your window, but still…lame… HAHAHAHA rad picture, man…
ReplyMy best is when they have these really mean cars, full house and then there is the baby in car sticker in the back window. I have a pictures somewhere of it.
PS These days you can see out the back window as if there is no graphics, not sure the technology but a mate of mine has it on his car. Its awesome.
