I’ve Been iPhoned
October 12th, 2007 by Ed Lau |
So after debating it for awhile, I’ve finally gone ahead and bought myself an iPhone. I was going to drive down to Seattle and pick one up myself but after the horror that is the Canada/US border, I decided to wait to get one locally. I finally got a lead but it required me to drive to…um Surrey. I’m not sure which is better…lining up for four hours to get into America or driving around on roads with no street lights, trying not to get stabbed or carjacked along the way.
I’m also not about to pay some of the absurd prices some people are asking for imported iPhones since I can always drive down to Seattle but luckily, I was able to find one for pretty close to retail price.

Now I just have to work on unlocking this thing when it’s all done charging.

Dude I also got my hands on a ‘Jesus Phone’ recently…what firmware is yours? I need to unlock mine as well (v1.1.1)…
Are data plans still ridiculously expensive in Canada?
Do you even have to ask?
I haven’t been able to convince the wife it is a good idea. Just waiting.
You have to convince your wife? If it’s your money, it’s your decision.
I wouldn’t upgrade the firmware to 1.1.1 yet… Leave it at v1.0.2. v1.1.1 hasn’t been unlocked yet, or at least not in an easy way.

did you take those pictures? nice…
Congrats on the phone! I’ve had mine a couple of weeks and love it so far. There are a few small quirks that I’d like to see fixed - namely being able to rotate the screen when texting and IM’ing…
I still have an old firmware version and thus, access to tons of 3rd party apps…
