I’ve Joined the Console Army
January 2nd, 2007 by Ed Lau |In my 23 years, I’ve never owned any of the video game consoles. That’s right, no Nintendos, no Sega, no Playstations and no Xboxes. I have, however, had a cutting edge PC since I was about 7 years old but still, I’ve never had the pleasure of taking part in the console wars.
That was until Boxing Day when I saw Roger’s Video had the Xbox 360 and Gears of War for $399. I knew at that price, I couldn’t resist. Of course, I didn’t want to bother lining up at Roger’s since…well, I don’t want to line up for anything. Lining up is for peasants like the freaks who wanted to save two bucks on chocolates that freakin’ badly. Therefore, I just got London Drugs to price match it for me.
Can someone suggest some good 360 games? Gears of War and Ghost Recon came with the system and I picked up Dead Rising and NHL ‘07 while I was at it. I also picked up the VGA connector for my monitor since…god, the RCA input looked so terrible. It actually hurt my eyes.

I really enjoyed Saint’s Row. Its a grand theft auto knockoff but it does some stuff better and I really enjoyed it. Feel free to add me, my gamertag is ZipDeeDooDah.
The only true must-have game for the 360 IMO is GoW. However there are some other good ones. Dead Rising of course, and Rainbow Six Vegas. If you find Ghost Recon to be too complicated moving squads around, etc, try Vegas instead.
Project Gotham is a good racing game, but I haven’t tried NFS: Carbon or Test Drive: Unlimited full versions yet. Depending on your style, you might like those better.
Of course, you have XBOX Live, so you can download demos for pretty much every game that exists. Try some out!
I don’t know if you like fighting games, but you might be able to get Virtua Fighter 5 and Tekken 6 later this year, I think.
