One of the best movies I saw in 2006 was Little Miss Sunshine, which I picked up on DVD today. It’s a hilarious, well directed film with great characters (which have equally great actors playing the roles). I dare you to watch this movie and not laugh out loud. It’s not for everyone…some people think it’s too slow and boring but these are the same people that just don’t get it. They’re what I call “crazy people”.

Steve Carrell has made a name for himself in roles like Michael Scott of The Office and Andy from The 40-Year Old Virgin but here he gives a wonderfully subdued performance as a guy who recently attempted suicide. Greg Kinnear is an underrated actor and Abigail Breslin, the little girl, puts on a great show. No one should miss this movie.

I think I commented on this on RS, but I agree, Little Miss Sunshine is easily one of the least known but absolute best movies this year. Steve Carell did a fantastic job in a role that I’ve never seen him in before / expected to see him in.
Some of the twists are a little odd, but that’s much of the appeal. Even the emo brother.
ReplyI just watched this too. What a great movie!
And damn every time I see Michael Kwan in the ‘latest comments’ list, I think it’s Michelle Kwan
