Motorola AURA – $2,000 Worth of Phone

Motorola Aura

$2000 is quite a bit to spend on a phone. Those of us with iPhones only had to shell out $199 or so if we signed up for a couple years. Of course, I won’t say I’ve never bought a phone for a ridiculous amount though. I did spend $1000 when the Sony Ericsson P800 first came out way back in the day but two grand these days seems like way too much with the huge price drops in mobile phone technology in recent years.

That didn’t stop Motorola from releasing a $2000 phone called the AURA, though. The AURA is modeled after the classic V70 circular flip design which I really liked. I had a V80 myself years ago, actually. However, they’ve gone with a serious premium treatment this time, including a sapphire crystal lens worthy of a nice watch.

Overpriced for sure, but it sure is pretty.

No wonder it’s so expensive…the money is all in the sapphire…lol. I also remember the old V70 phones and they were a hit back then. As for the P800…that thing was HUGE, but was something good back in the days.

Overpriced? Sure. Pretty? Yeah. But Will It Blend?

Only $2000? I started bashing and picking at a $30,000 phone…

Oh how I wish I could spend stupid money on phones again. My all time favorite phone is still the Motorola Vader (V3620). It had a built in answering machine… too cool for voicemail ;)

Personally, I always though the V70 was a feminine phone.

Regarding the AURA, one thing that is very interesting about it is that it has a circular display rather than a square one. On the old V70, you still had a square display; it just happened to be inside of a circular case.
