Rainbow Six: Vegas

by Ed Lau on January 20, 2007

The latest addition to my Xbox 360 library is the latest installment in the Rainbow Six series. Now, I really enjoyed the first two Rainbow Six games but I lost interest after that. However, since The Unit came out last year, the whole tactical military genre has been much more appealing. The whole idea of a group of ridiculously elite soldiers is pretty damned cool.

To be quite honest, I was a little skeptical about how well this would play on a console since I hate trying to aim a gun with a gamepad and as I remember it, Rainbow Six required a surgically precise aim that can really only be with a mouse and keyboard. Gears of War wasn’t absolutely horrible when it came to aiming but that is a seriously different kind of game compared to a tactical shooter.

While I still think a mouse would be much better, the way the analog sticks work on the 360 gamepad is actually quite intuitive and you get used to it after awhile. Although I still think I’d be a much more efficient killing machine on my computer, it’s still quite a bit of fun laying waste to terrorists in the streets of Las Vegas.

By the way, if anyone wants to find me on Xbox Live!, my profile name is typeronin so go ahead and add me to your list. Just lemme know who you are though.

Well, you better get used to it because the Xbox 360 is all about first person shooters.

On a side note, how are Wesley Crusher and John Chow related to this post? :)
