Visiting Union Gospel Mission
John Chow, Stephen Fung, Greg Morgan and I were invited down to UGM today to have some lunch and hear about some of the new stuff they’ve been doing lately. We’re always glad to go down to UGM as well as help them raise some funds to help folks in need over the holidays.

Early this morning, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Luc Bourdon was killed when lost control of his motorcycle and was involved in an accident with a tractor-trailer near his hometown of Shippagan, New Brunswick. There aren’t too many more details than that at the moment.
Bourdon was the Canucks first-round draft pick (10th overall) in 2005 and was starting to break into Canucks defense-heavy lineup, scoring twice last season. He’s also got two gold medals with the Canadian national junior team at the World Junior tournament, named a tournament all-star in 2006.
It’s a sad day for Vancouver Canucks fans everywhere. I’ve followed Luc’s development in the Canucks system and our farm team, the Manitoba Moose, since he was drafted. Like many other fans in our hockey mad city, we know just about everything about the guys that play on our team. So when I heard about Bourdon’s passing this afternoon, it was like losing someone we knew. There’s a sense of camaraderie between Canucks fans and the team. I mean, we are all Canucks, after all. It’s a big blow to the community and to the team to lose one of our own…a guy that was just starting to break out and become a big part of the team. From what I’ve heard from those who knew him personally, Luc was a great teammate, a hard worker on the ice and a fun guy to be with off the ice. In fact, check out Luc dancing with the other rookies at this years Dice and Ice.
My condolences to the Bourdon family. You will be missed, #28.
