The RSS feed is now a full one so I hope more people subscribe. Of course, RSS is not real time so you’ll get updates from my page when it decides to update. John and Carl tell me that enabling a full feed won’t decrease site traffic since you still have to come here to participate in the comment conversations but we’ll see how it goes. Personally, I thought that RSS was generally a service to let you know when a site has updated, not to read just about everything without actually going to the site but hey, I’m always willing to listen to those with more experience in the blogging world. So enjoy and sign up.

I almost always use RSS to keep up to date on various blogs like this one. And most of the time, I will click on to the main site for the full post, to get the “Director’s Cut” version of how it is intended to look.

But a full feed is handy when I am sitting on the MTR, bored, reading RSS feeds on my Pocket PC. RSS is a nice simple way to read a full post, because Wordpress doesn’t look that great in mobile browsers.

Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. If people can just read everything in their RSS reader, why would they ever need to actually visit a site?

Hey,

Yeah, I used to only provide an excerpt of my articles in my feed also, but it seems that people didn’t like that. Several of my readers complained about the situation, so I had to start syndicating the full content of each posts at that point.

If you want people to subscribe to your feed, you’ll have to stick the fact that you have one in their faces, just like you did in this post. this is the best way to attract their attention.
