Maybe not the boring parts like trying to find the acidity of tepid pond water but the melting, the freezing, and the blowing stuff up is definitely awesome.

Here’s yet another cool show from the British, apparently hosted by Top Gear’s Richard Hammond, called Brainiac. I’m not sure where I can find it but if anyone knows where I can download the rest of the episodes, let me know. Any show that splashes freakin’ thermite onto liquid nitrogen has to just rule all. Liquid nitrogen is already pretty badass. I “burned” my hand pretty badly back in high school when I dipped my hand in a tub of it.

…yes, I was a complete moron.

That is very cool…and if I wasn’t worried about my son trying something like this I would have to share it with him as he loves stuff like this as well.

I’ve talked about Brainiac on Sciencebase once or twice in the past. I’ve also posted about science video sources. But, just for you, I’ve also created a Brainiac Youtube playlist of some of the best

Sadly, Hammond had to move away from the show because of the BBC and them giving him a huge stack of cash to sign an exclusivity agreement. He’s been replaced by Vic Reeves. Not my first choice of replacement…

I remember in high school we were allowed to play with some liquid nitrogen (under supervision of course). We froze various pieces of veggies and fruit and then we ate it. It is safe to eat, just really cold.
