Left 4 Dead
I really need to find more time in the day. This is one of those “perfect storm” times of the year when tons of quality games come out and there’s simply not enough time to play them all. I saw a video for Left 4 Dead the other day and was convinced that [...]

Hell yes!
One of my favorite songs of all time is 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins, one of the greatest bands of the ’90s. It is a near perfect piece of music that just feels like a lazy summer day. The lazy guitars, the crisp drums…even Billy Corgan’s usual snarl is mellowed when he says stuff about morphine, which is exactly what it’s like. The song sounds like sedation. If you can find the acoustic version somewhere out there, I highly recommend it. It sounds dirty and rusty…it’s a beautiful thing. When the Pumpkins broke up years ago, it was more than just the end of the band. It was the end of the ’90s.
So I was naturally excited when Corgan announced on Thursday that the Pumpkins would be back with a new album and tour in 2007.
This year for us will see a new album of songs and a world tour of tears, and we truly look forward to playing again for fans young, old and missed. Tunes are being dusted off, while others are being asked to kindly sumbit to an upstart millennia and all it’s asking…when we opened the lid on this music box, we were pleasantly surprised at the music that played: familiar yet unknown, welcoming but not sentimental.
Yeah, it’s hard to understand what the heck he’s saying sometimes but before Jack White, no one sneered with anger like Billy Corgan. There’s no word, however, if D’arcy and James Iha would be back. Jimmy Chamberlin will be, though. I’m not sure how I feel about that. I mean, if half the band won’t be on…it wouldn’t sound the same. I mean, despite the fact Axl Rose was still in Guns ‘N Roses…it was never the same without Slash and Co.
Either way, it should be interesting to see how this pans out.
