Someone Finally Figured It Out

One of my biggest peeves at the moment is that for some reason, regardless of international economics, most things still cost more in Canada than they do in the United States. Yep, even though our money has been worth more than the Yanks for a good month now, many online retailers and such refuse to believe it and continue to treat the exchange rate as if it were 1994. Apple, for example, changes $449 for an iPod Touch here in Canada while the US still gets them for $399!

Today, I picked up a copy of British GQ since, well, I had nothing else to read and discovered that, for the first time ever, it cost more in the States than it does in Canada!

British GQ, US Canada Exchange Rate

Leave it to the Brits to get it right before anyone else…

It’s about time! Here’s hoping that other products follow suit *cough* Apple.
I’m sure there are economic reasons behind why this ISN’T a good thing which I don’t know but I just want my cheap iPhone!

But everything over here (in the UK) is more expensive than the US AND Canada (excpet, perhaps, British GQ)

Some big retailers like Wal-Mart have already slashed their prices to reflect the dollar parity. You’ll find almost everything there costs the same as it does in the US.
I was in T&T yesterday to buy bubblegum and they wouldn’t take an American nickel I had. A fricken nickel!!! This is crazy.

Retailers have complained that the “high prices” in Canada is not their fault–it’s due to the fact that manufacturing companies charge more for their products. It would be nice to have some nice deals here, rather than driving down to Seattle.

Finally! Now, when will PCWorld follow… Actually, I just shot them an email about that. I wanna subscribe to it, but I don’t want to pay $15 more than I should be!
