Speed Link Sunday – Contest Winners Edition

by Ed Lau on November 23, 2008

Originally I was going to list off everyone that took part in my contest but I’ve become rather sick today and don’t seriously have the energy needed to look up everyone’s Twitter and website. Instead, I’ll put that off for a week and revisit the winners instead.

In case you have no idea what I’m talking about, I gave away several prizes including an iPod Nano, a stripe ad on Johnchow.com and an ad spot here. For future events such as this or if you want to join us for Dot Com Pho or just follow me in general, add me to your Twitter! I’ll be giving away more stuff in the future so stay tuned.

  1. Sly Blanco of SlyVisions.com, who won the stripe ad on Johnchow.com, tells us how you can automatically send a direct message to new Twitter followers. To do so, you have to use a service called Tweet Later, which timestamps Tweets for the future.
  2. Karen Hamilton from tinybites.ca, who won a box ad on my blog, reviews Sushi Bento Express, a small Japanese restaurant on Robson Street in Vancouver. Not only does the food look delicious but the restaurant promotes sustainable sushi, which is on the minds of globally conscious diners. As delicious as the sushi I had in Japan was, there’s growing concern that some species of tuna (the most delicious bluefin species, actually) are becoming more and more rare. On one hand, I want to be able to get my otoro for years to come…on the other, if that isn’t going to happen, I want to eat all I can before they’re gone!
  3. Dan C. Rinnert of dcrblogs.com, who won an iPod Nano, discusses how stories should end, citing the ending to some popular TV shows. You know what’s worse than a bad ending? No ending at all! I’m always afraid to watch new TV series due to the fact that they might not be here next season, leaving loose ends and plot holes.
  4. Merlene Paynter, of Frugalous.com, gives us a recipe for carrot cake. I love me some carrot cake, one of life’s strangest dishes since you normally wouldn’t think of carrots being anywhere near a dessert. But then again, I said the same thing about fries and ice cream…and I’ve seen people eat those together. Eeeyck…

I though citrus theme of UBD is not that good but what I am seeing here is a nice theme. Anyway, I found you in Sly’s blog. Blog commenting really rocks. I used to find blogs daily.

Thanks for the mention.

I hate that too, when a show, especially one with a running plot line, gets cancelled before the story arc gets resolved.
