It’s been a long time since I last did a Speed Link Sunday post, mainly due to most bloggers slowing down as of late and finding new posts to share became more difficult. Many bloggers in our circles have become more involved in more than just their blogs so a reduced post frequency is not surprising. I still maintain a “post-per-day” frequency but I may rethink that in the near future…although keeping that strict rule is probably what keeps me motivated. Give me the opportunity to slack and you can be sure I’d take it every time. Either way, let’s just start it a little and I’ll do my best to inform you of what I happen to find on a given week. So, without any further adieu…

  1. Although Gdog has been back from Korea for some time now, you can’t blame him for missing some of the things common to his adopted home of last year. While shopping, he happen to stumble across some tubs of kimchi, made locally! Normally, I heard kimchi takes awhile to make at home so this is probably for folks who don’t have time to do so. I remember really liking kimchi when I was younger but haven’t really had a taste for it lately. I usually chow down on the pickled carrots instead when I go out for Korean food.
  2. The writer’s strike has cause TV to degenerate into a cess pool of crappy reality shows and reruns of stuff no one watched in the first place. It has also sparked a revival of some old school shows such as American Gladiators, a hilariously over-the-top physical competition game show that I remember from when I was a kid. Gary Lee takes a look at all the female Gladiators.

…well, actually only two of them look like actual women.

  3. Derek Semmler explains The Wall (not to be confused with the Pink Floyd epic), which is probably responsible for some of the abandoned blogs we’ve seen in the last few months. Bloggers typically burn out a few months into it when they realize maintaining a blog isn’t as easy as they previously assumed and quit unless they keep themselves motivated. Although I have my off-days when I struggle to find something to bring to the table, I think I scaled the wall already, having been doing this for a little over 14 months now.
  4. I wanted to throw in a link for my good friends at Chow Times, one of my favorite food blogs with lots of great recipes and local Vancouver area restaurant reviews (as well as some from around the world since they like to travel). I don’t have a particular post to link to but check them out if you’re looking for a place to grab a bite in the Vancouver area. I went to dinner with them awhile ago but haven’t gotten around to making that post yet…maybe this week?
  5. Finally, all the Dot Com Pho’ers except me when to CES this week so check out CES coverage from Michael Kwan, John Chow, Greg Morgan, and Stephen Fung as well as our friends Shawn Knight and Bob Buskirk.

Thanks for the mention. Regarding The Wall, I seem to have hit it harder on some of my blogs more than on my personal blog but I won’t be going anywhere.

Not to be a stickler, but it’s “without further ado” not “adieu”.
