Left 4 Dead
I really need to find more time in the day. This is one of those “perfect storm” times of the year when tons of quality games come out and there’s simply not enough time to play them all. I saw a video for Left 4 Dead the other day and was convinced that [...]

I was asked recently how I go about choosing the five links that I pick for Speed Link Sunday. It’s from interesting things I’ve found on various blogs that week, chosen entirely at random but mostly, I read through my regular blogs and look back on comments and check out folks that have commented here. However, I don’t particularly like it when people just straight up ask to be included on Sunday or for site reviews, usually commenting with requests in posts that are entirely unrelated without adding anything to the conversation. I find that to be almost like spam and a bit rude. Just visiting and commenting is usually enough to get my attention.
1. Gdog, who is teaching English in South Korea, observes the phenomenon that is couples’ fashion. Yes, that’s when a couple dresses in similar, matching outfits. Although it was a sort of special event on a Saturday that he took some pictures, I hear that it isn’t out of the ordinary for couples to dress alike in Korea, with stores even catering to this with specialized couples departments. Personally, I find it more than a little weird. I went out with a girl that was basically the female version of me (loud, constantly laughing, sarcastic, just as awesome) and when I realized it, it was a little strange. I can only imagine the totally strange looks if we were to wear matching outfits.
2. Like he does quite a bit these days, Saman Sadeghi found another hilarious video, this time featuring a sadistic gamer making a human bowling alley in Rollercoaster Tycoon. I must admit, one of the fun things with these games is finding ways to pit the little people on the screen against each other or other…things in a race for survival like throwing a person into a cage with a bunch of lions and seeing if they can get out before the hungry cats chow down. Yes, it’s boring at work and there are only a few games running…
3. Rick Yuen agrees with me that Spider-man 3 sucked and calls for a quality over quantity approach from Hollywood. To be fair, there are quite a few good movies around but the overwhelming amount of total crap drowns most of it out sometimes. I watched a few stinkers lately that I’ll let you folks know about in a bit.
4. Kelly Cho has some tips for travellers, including house swapping and how to not lose your luggage. One of my friends hilariously lost his luggage when we went to Europe last summer and was without all his stuff for a couple days while the airline sorted it out. He eventually got it back but not before the rest of us made fun of him but holding our hands up in confusion, saying “Where’s my luggage!?” and dubbing him “The Luggage Loser”. Of course, he also didn’t have to lug around a giant backpack for a few days…
5. Malcolm Owen at Blatantly Random takes a look back at Team America: World Police which was, in all honesty, one of the best movies of 2004. Seriously! While it’s crude and absurd, it does make some political statements and relevant observations about society. Of course, it is f’n hilarious with one of the funniest soundtracks in movies and a graphic puppet sex-scene (which is even more graphic on the DVD) that will have you puking with laughter. We need a montage!! MONTAGE!

I think I’m going to have to check out the best movie in 2004…world police. I missed the movie theater for about the last 5 years because of the kids
ReplyI’d really like to see a human blowing alley.
ReplySo would I! Super hilarious in a video game, so just imagine what it’d be like in real life. If you had to choose, which pin would you want to be?

ReplyThat’s funny, my interpretaion of a Human Blowing Alley would have nothing to do with a video game!
