Speed Link Sunday! - May 6th
May 6th, 2007 by Ed Lau |1. The Thinking Blog has a hilarious video from Germany of little kids doing stupid stuff like on Jackass. Warnung! Don’t try this stuff at home…and especially don’t make your kids do it. I’m a big Jackass fan. I know it’s stupid but seriously, the show and especially the movies are some of the funniest (…and most disgusting) things I’ve ever seen. If you want some more “serious” reading, there’s also some tips on getting on Digg’s front page and mating habits of a really ugly fish.
2. Jason of Foximus posts about finding your blogging voice. At the beginning, most bloggers have a bit of trouble getting used to their surroundings, so to speak. My first few posts are like that, really. I was more concerned about building traffic and such than actually writing about stuff I’m interested in. I mean, I did a post about Britney Spears getting a divorce hoping to cash in on the buzz that day but in truth, I couldn’t give less of a rat’s ass about the former Mrs. Federline. It’s quite important to write about stuff you care about and also…remember, this isn’t English class…so writing like you would speak usually makes for a more interesting post.
3. Joel from The World of Joel writes about how he feels about the Toyota Prius after owning it for a week. He likes it but personally, I’ve driven the Prius and probably couldn’t stand driving one. Yes, I understand how it’s great on gas but there are just a few things about it that I wouldn’t be able to live with. First of all, it looks like something I’d wedge a door open with. If I have to live with it every day, I wouldn’t want a car I don’t like the look of regardless of how much it heals the world. It’s so absurdly designed and hideous. Two, it’s too quiet. I happen to like a nice growl from the engine when you step on it. But hey, if you like it, Joel, more power to you. I get that it’s a matter of taste but for me, I’d rather stab myself in the thigh than drive a Prius.
4. Lyndon Maxell of esplanade posted some really amazing artwork inspired by weird doodles made by kids. Seriously, some of this stuff looks great. I wish I could draw worth a damn. I can’t draw or paint or do any sort of sculpting, which would explain my near-failing marks for a fine art course I took in my first year of university. I wouldn’t have bothered but it was a pre-requisite for the photography class…and there were some cute girls in that course.
5. Jon Lee has a cool little plug-in for Wordpress that shows off your Google PR, Alex and Technorati ratings. It’s still being tested and I’ve found an error that prevents it from working on my site so far. Download it and give Jon a hand in testing it!

You don’t know what your missing with the Prius! It’s a fantastic vehicle and one that I am very happy with as you mentioned! But hey if you want to kill the enviornment I won’t hold it against you! Just kidding!
Thanks for mentioning my posts Ed! I’m glad you enjoyed them.
Ed! You mentioned me! Thats the ducks nuts! You rock!
those images that lyndon posted were actually rendered by an artist named Dave Devries. I’ve seen these before. he takes drawings from children and turn them into amazing art. here’s his site: http://www.themonsterengine.com/art.html
he’s an extremely talented artist, and i’d forgotten all about him until i saw your post
That’s a pretty neat plugin. Gary Lee had issues with it aswell, but he seems to have got it sorted.
