Left 4 Dead
I really need to find more time in the day. This is one of those “perfect storm” times of the year when tons of quality games come out and there’s simply not enough time to play them all. I saw a video for Left 4 Dead the other day and was convinced that [...]

Another week of all-time highs with traffic averaging about 1300 unique visitors a day and the RSS feed hitting 124 on Friday. I’m not sure what’s sparking the recent influx of new visitors since I don’t think I changed anything but hey, I’m not going to complain.
Plenty going on this week. In case you missed it, Michael and I finally found a good name for our new hockey blog and there’s another video for the announcement. We already have a few people interested in a hockey pool and hope to get a few more before the start of the season. I’d probably say next Sunday is the deadline for signing up. I’ll give away some more fabulous prizes to the winner at the end of the season.
Also, this week, John Chow, Greg Morgan and I take over Jeremy Schoemaker’s weekly radio show since the Shoe is away for the TechCrunch40 conference. Tune in on Tuesday at 3PM PST to Webmaster Radio to hear John, Greg and I ramble about all that’s going on on the internet, talk to Nate Whitehill about Unique Blog Designs and one other special guest. Don’t miss it! (Well, if you do, I’m sure we’ll have an MP3 available afterwards…)
- Our friend Spud Oregon has decided to stop writing Nice4Rice, which reviewed my blog back in April. At one time, I was second all-time for rice bowls earned but have since been entirely annihilated by more recent posts. Spud/Nick will be focusing on family life, although we hope he’ll continue his personal blog, LongCountdown. Don’t be a stranger and visit sometime, Nick.
- Bob Buskirk gives a little insight on the world of trade shows and why he loves them. I love trade shows as well but mostly because of the wild parties that happen at night after all the business is taken care of. I haven’t gone in a few years but I’ll be in Taiwan for Computex in 2008.
- Gary from BlueFur asks how effective are testimonials? Personally, I think it has to be a testimonial from someone I actually know if it’s to be effective. Celebrity endorsements and infomercials have pretty much desensitized me to the point where I really have to ask if the person is being honest or if they were simply paid to say that the product/service is awesome.
- Gary from The Daily Kimchi came to Dot Com Pho yesterday and will probably join the rest of us Vancouver bloggers for a few of our activities in the coming week. Gary recently posted regarding all the things in Canada that remind him of his time teaching English in Korea.
- Leo Chiang gave us some signed pictures of model Darla Briggs yesterday for helping out with some donations in the CIBC Run for the Cure. Michael actually won the random draw for the grand prizes. If you’re interested in seeing us all look like doofuses then there are a couple pictures over on Leo’s blog.

ReplyCorrection Ed.
You write “Gary from BlueFur asks how effective are testimonials?”, but you forget that I write for the BlueFur blog as “Rhetorical”. So the post that you linked was written by me, not Gary.
ReplyCheers Ed, now I’ve got more time to read the.[ED]ition and maybe even look at your hockey blog Chocolate Rain, oops, I mean SSS.
ReplyLooking forward to $50 hamburgers on Tuesday. I’ll try and keep that day free.
