After a few months of being “on hiatus“, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip will return next week on Thursday, May 24th. It’s been axed from its previous timeslot of Monday and given the spot usually occupied by ER, which will end season 13 this Thursday.
While the Aaron Sorkin drama gained a lot of critical praise, ratings have been poor since the second episode. In fact, many thought that the remaining episodes wouldn’t even be shown despite the fact that they have already been paid for by NBC. However, the remaining new episodes will be aired until June 28th. Although I don’t think there’s any official word but insider reports say that it will not be renewed for next season.
Seriously, what’s wrong with the world when a good show like this can’t get a second season and yet there are a million seasons of The Bachelor, The Biggest Loser and The Surreal Life. Oh well, as Judd Hirsch says in the first episode “There’s always been a struggle between art and commerce…and art is getting its ass kicked.”
