Once in awhile, you just feel like having a truly decadent lunch and…today was one such day. The usual group of Vancouver Dot Com-ers (myself, John Chow and his wife Sarah, Greg Morgan, Michael Kwan, Leo Chiang, Stephen Fung, and Gary Ng) decided to go to Feenie’s on West Broadway and try their burger. That’s right, a burger.
Now you might be thinking to yourself “What’s so decadent about a burger?!” but this is not the sort you’ll find at McDonald’s. If you order the Feenie’s burger fully loaded, it comes with beef short ribs and pan seared foie gras. That’s right, foie gras on a burger. The Feenie Burger starts with a 100% certified Angus beef, with sauteed mushrooms, cheese and bacon. That sounds pretty good already and is a reasonable $16 with a serving of fries.
The extras is where it starts to get crazy. Pan seared foie gras and beef short ribs adds another $32 and a nice side salad for another $3.
The burger is massive. I could barely fit it in my mouth…someone is going to get lockjaw from eating this thing…but it was delicious. The beef patty and short ribs are so juicy and well seasoned. The foie gras is soft and rich, somewhat like a cheese in a burger.
The salad was very refreshing but the fries were a bit soft and greasy. Stephen was crazy enough to get a poutine instead of fries.
This isn’t the sort of burger you’d want to be eating on a regular basis, not only due to the $60 price tag but because it’s probably loaded in calories and fat. The bill, after our waiter tacked on a 17% since we had 8 people, the bill came close to $600 for our table.
…now excuse me while I go for a bike ride to see if I can work this meal off…

damn that’s a lot of money to spend on a hamburger.

Dude but if you have the $ hell go for it, I bet it tasted really good for that price
Hell much things would taste good if you pay almost $100 for it.
It was good, I was an early skeptic since I would normally never spend $50 for a burger. I guess I can afford to splurge from time to time
