Left 4 Dead
I really need to find more time in the day. This is one of those “perfect storm” times of the year when tons of quality games come out and there’s simply not enough time to play them all. I saw a video for Left 4 Dead the other day and was convinced that [...]
Read MoreThe Dot Com Diet @ Feenies

Once in awhile, you just feel like having a truly decadent lunch and…today was one such day. The usual group of Vancouver Dot Com-ers (myself, John Chow and his wife Sarah, Greg Morgan, Michael Kwan, Leo Chiang, Stephen Fung, and Gary Ng) decided to go to Feenie’s on West Broadway and try their burger. That’s right, a burger.
Now you might be thinking to yourself “What’s so decadent about a burger?!” but this is not the sort you’ll find at McDonald’s. If you order the Feenie’s burger fully loaded, it comes with beef short ribs and pan seared foie gras. That’s right, foie gras on a burger. The Feenie Burger starts with a 100% certified Angus beef, with sauteed mushrooms, cheese and bacon. That sounds pretty good already and is a reasonable $16 with a serving of fries.

The extras is where it starts to get crazy. Pan seared foie gras and beef short ribs adds another $32 and a nice side salad for another $3.

The burger is massive. I could barely fit it in my mouth…someone is going to get lockjaw from eating this thing…but it was delicious. The beef patty and short ribs are so juicy and well seasoned. The foie gras is soft and rich, somewhat like a cheese in a burger.

The salad was very refreshing but the fries were a bit soft and greasy. Stephen was crazy enough to get a poutine instead of fries.
This isn’t the sort of burger you’d want to be eating on a regular basis, not only due to the $60 price tag but because it’s probably loaded in calories and fat. The bill, after our waiter tacked on a 17% since we had 8 people, the bill came close to $600 for our table.

…now excuse me while I go for a bike ride to see if I can work this meal off…

damn that’s a lot of money to spend on a hamburger.
ReplyIt’s funny how some can’t afford a $1 meal and some spend near $100 for lunch.
Dude but if you have the $ hell go for it, I bet it tasted really good for that price
Hell much things would taste good if you pay almost $100 for it.
It was good, I was an early skeptic since I would normally never spend $50 for a burger. I guess I can afford to splurge from time to time
ReplyI wonder what Poutine is?
ReplyPoutine is fries covered with gravy and cheese curds.
Replydude that burger looks hella bomb… minus the foie gras…
ReplyThe foie gras is what set it apart from other burgers.
ReplyI’m hungry now
ReplyI feel like another burger.
haha, what are you doing tomorrow for lunch? Feenie’s again? This time we’ll order one to eat in, and one to go!
ReplyYes, and they’re damn tasty.
They’re more of a Canadian thing…
ReplyLOL, I’m on set tomorrow so I’ll be getting a free catered lunch
ReplyBurger looks tasty, and just like Danielle says… minus the foie gras. Give some nasty food (liver) a fancy name, and people will pay big money to eat it.
ReplyI had some awesome beef brisket for lunch, mmmmm!
ReplyIt’s a lot cheaper at Chinese restaurants
Replylol the most expensive burger I’ve ever heard of
ReplyLol and i love how google puts a Healthy Living Ad on top of this post

[...] I’m sure we all have fond memories of McDonald’s from when we were children. Y’know, before the age of Super Size Me and well, before we knew better. I have a rather strict “No McDonald’s” rule these days (well, I might have a McNugget or two if there isn’t anything else around) but I had to break it this week in the name of nostalgia. I’m sure if you’re around my age, then you’ve probably had a few McRib sandwiches back in elementary school…a sandwich that has inspired an entire episode of The Simpsons. I’m sure the damn things are so incredibly bad for you and probably contains “various meats” that probably aren’t pork but hey, four bucks to relive memories of when you were 11 isn’t a bad deal. Can’t always eat $60 hamburgers. [...]
