Gordon Ramsay, The F Word

I’ve been a bit fascinated with Gordon Ramsay lately after watching Hell’s Kitchen earlier this year and more recently Kitchen Nightmares. There are few people that can command the attention that Ramsay can. Seriously, anyone that swears that much can’t be that bad.

However, Ramsay’s best show is undoubtedly The F Word, which has a bit of everything. I had a short clip from The F Word earlier when James May was a guest on the show. However, there’s a lot more than that on the show. There’s a sort of competition like between teams of chefs like on Hell’s Kitchen, the winner of which each season gets to work at one of Gordon’s restaurants. The competition is a bit of an afterthought as the numbers seem quite arbitrary (since not every team cooks the same dishes) but it’s another great opportunity for us to see Ramsay curse at the amateurs as they work too slowly and often incompetently.

The F Word is quite a bit like one of my other favorite British TV shows, Top Gear, with a variety of interesting segments and fantastic recipes from Ramsay (most of which you can find on the show’s website). In the first episode of season 3, Gordon hunts king crab and cooks it right on the frozen lake. Season 3 also follows Ramsay as he raises his own lambs.

There’s a lot of crap on British TV just like on the networks on this side of the world but I seriously suggest you check out this show. Well, maybe not if you’re seriously offended by profanity. Unfortunately, the only way for us to get it here in North America is to download it (or find it on YouTube). It’s not particularly difficult to find if you can string together the words “The F Word” and torrent on Google (be sure to put “The F Word” in quotes though…). Go check it out…it’s seriously good fun and you’ll learn some hilarious ways to curse like British folks.

Bollocks!

Gordon raised his lambs on the Beckham’s land in England. When Victoria found out what he was going to do with them after they grow up, she was horrified. Duh! Gordon is a Chef! What else is he going to do with them?

I find that I prefer Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares to the F Word. Although both are damn good programmes, I just think that the F Word is done more for sensationalism than it should be. E.G. cooking horse meat and then giving it away to visitors of a large racing event, to see if they like it.

And yes, I dislike the US version of Kitchen Nightmares. Far too sensationalized…

[...] I’m no good at putting anything I do in the kitchen into words. If you want like…recipes, head over to Chow Times. I’m horrible at teaching stuff…especially in the kitchen since I don’t do any measuring or whatever. It’s all through taste, feel and trial/error. Maybe I should try doing Dot Com Kitchen like Stephen. I guess I’ll just say this Gordon Ramsay-style. [...]
