The Office Renewed For A Fourth Season

Posted on May 15th, 2007 by Ed Lau

NBC announced that they would be bringing back two of my favorite shows, The Office and Scrubs, which will be entering their fourth and seventh season, respectively. They also announced that The Office would be extended to a 30-episode season, which may mean there will be 30 episodes in total and five of those are one hour long or there will be 25 episodes in total and five of those are one hour long (meaning 30 half-hours.). I can’t seem to find out which one is which since there are a bunch of conflicting stories but hey, another year of Dunder-Mifflin is good enough for me. They also thought about making it an hour long show but, really…that’s probably not a great idea.

There were rumors that this would be the last year for Scrubs but fans will be happy to know that it will be back next year. Actually, I had no doubt it would be back. Speculation was that NBC would drop the show because it was getting too expensive to produce but even if they were to drop it, another network would pick it up for sure. Even though this season isn’t the best one, ratings have been stronger than ever so it would be stupid to drop it now.

If you haven’t watched either of these, I highly recommend it. They’re hilarious and the writing and performances are fantastic…better than any other comedies on TV.

NBC also said that they would be dropping The Apprentice. Does this mean they’re moving away from stupid reality shows?

I love both of those shows but don’t get a chance to watch either of them often enough and I don’t have Tivo to record it.

The Office is my favorite comedy and the only other show I think that might be a little better IMO is Boston Legal. But I think you are right that an hour episode every week might be a little too much.

The Office is an awesome show. I’m really glad NBC has put “The Apprentice” on the back burner. Even if it’s a good season, the idea is not fresh anymore.

Glad to hear that Office will be back. I never did get caught up in Scrubs though.

besides seinfeld, scrubs is my favorite show of all time. could be because i’m in love with zach braff but that’s beside the point… it’s a freakin great show! i do all of my cardio workouts to either season 1 or season 2. it makes the workout much more enjoyable. the office is cool too…

oh yea and gary said they were filming Heroes again in downtown today. it’s actually really annoying when you’re driving into work and it already takes you an hour to get there, only to have tv cameras, trucks and props contributing to the mounting grid-lock… no bueno…

If you haven’t seen the original UK version of the office I highly recommend it. As Chris from Blog-op noted on eJabs it is “cringe-inducing genius”.
