Apart from ensuring that my blog streams there properly as well as ensuring that last night’s drunken debauchery doesn’t end up there, I spend very little time on Facebook. I mean, as the great Betty White recently said “In my day, looking at people’s vacation photos was a punishment.” so I have no idea how people can spend entire days on that site. People say that World of Warcraft is dangerous but hey, I’ve heard of people spending just as much time cyber-poking each other (…that didn’t sound right), visiting each other’s virtual farms and finding out what kind of sandwich they are. I don’t know about you but I’d rather kick some virtual dragon ass.
So you can probably understand when I was rather underwhelmed when I heard there would be a movie made about Facebook, despite the involvement of David Fincher (who directed such awesomeness as Seven and Fight Club), Aaron Sorkin (writer behind The West Wing and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) and a score by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. I mean, how interesting could a story about the founding of Facebook be when Facebook itself isn’t very interesting in itself?
But my interest is growing as we get more and more information and with the recent release of statements made by Mark Zuckerberg (who will be played by Jesse Eisenberg who I only remember from the excellent Zombieland) that paint him as, well, sort of a dick.
The movie is looking better each time we learn something new about it. I mean, it looks like a better way to spend two hours than…well, actual Facebook.

The reason why they are making a facebook movie is because they know everybody will go to see it and it will make a lot of money. Just think about all the likes and wall postings that are going to happen when it launches.
This looks like it could be a good movie. Everyone loves Facebook and they will go see it. They should also make a movie called the Search Engine about Google.
Hi Ed,
I don’t spend that much time on facebook either but once in a while it’s a good place to catch up on what some far away friends have been up to.
As for the movie it sounds very interesting to me. At least it’s about something real or so I hope instead of a complete fiction which is OK once in a while for entertainment but is usually tends to be completely disconnected from real life.
There have been a few great fiction movies better than reality but usually they aren’t that educational.

It’s less about the Facebook experience and more about the business side of it. It’s like a lesser version of… Wall Street, or something. Much lesser.
Although the involvement of Sorkin is a good sign.
I think the fact that there are 500 million facebook users (and counting) has something to do with the fact that there is a movie being made about facebook. They’re obviously trying to get some buy-in out of the vast subscriber base, but I personally won’t be wasting my time or cash on watching this particular movie.
Nice I love Betty White!
Thanks for information.. really its interesting
I am also using many Social Network website to make friends for Fun , But I really enjoy Facebook and Twitter
I’ve heard about the Facebook movie and I can’t help not to get excited, in fact everyone in the family is, including my 9-year old. I’m sure a lot of people are also excited about it.
I agree that facebook is a big waste of time. The movie will still do very well just due to the popularity of the website. Really the movie can be crap, but they throw the facebook name on it and it’ll make millions. I could see it being a pretty entertaining movie.
