The Top Five Blogs I Read

Posted on May 22nd, 2007 by Ed Lau

I was tagged a little while ago for this by Gary and Jeff, the idea being listing out some of my favorite blogs. I believe this was originally started by The Paper Bull.

1. John Chow - John’s a good friend of mine and he’s the one that encouraged me to start a blog. He also helps me with most of my daily blog operations as well as other random make money stuff. His blog is probably one of the best resources for blog monetization but he also writes some good food reviews and other ramblings.

2. Hypebeast - I’m not sure if this qualifies as a blog. The front end blog is more of a news site but the site also hosts quite a few blogs from various people involved with streetwear. At one time, Lupe Fiasco’s blog was part of Hypebeast. If you’re into awesome, exclusive sneakers and designer t-shirts, Hypebeast is probably the one of the best sites for that sort of thing.

3. Lifehacker - A really random blog that has all kinds of stuff on it but usually has some useful tips about…well, random stuff. There’s quite a few Mac tips which have come in handy since I purchased a Mac mini awhile ago and I’ve gotten some helpful Photoshop tricks from this site as well.

4. Kineda - Tell you the truth, I used to read this site more than I do now. I originally stumbled upon it years ago when a buddy sent me “Dude, check out these hot chicks!” and a link to their gallery but it’s got a lot of helpful lifestyle tips and entertainment news. Recently, however, there has been a bit of a shift to accommodate female readers and well, I’m not a big fan of all the posts about women’s clothing or…uh…getting the man of your dreams. I felt like I picked up an issue of Cosmo instead of GQ by accident. Hopefully this is temporary but I’m never one to argue with a site plastered with Alessandra Ambrosio.

5. Career Ramblings - I don’t plan on working at London Drugs much longer. Actually, I’m only staying there right now to retain my health benefits and…well, I basically just write stuff for the blog there anyways. Career Ramblings is a great source of information for those on a job hunt and also taking care of your finances. It’s no surprise really that this is one of the hottest blogs around right now…and not just because most of us have a bit of a crush on the brainy blonde hottie, Jane May.

That’s it for me. I’ll pass this on to Danielle, Michael, and Jon.

You and me both on the John Chow thing…although he and I aren’t friends. Just bloggies. :) Definitely a good list. 3 out of your 5 are mine as well.

    Hey Ed!

I’m sure we shocked many of the readers like yourself with the recent influx of additional women content. We’re just trying to balance things out for the ladies of the site. :) Rest assured you’ll still have plenty of eye candy to oggle at. ;)

I’m proud Kineda is on this list!
