I’m not sure if I should really use my store as a barometer since we’re in a neighborhood where no one has a real computer, let alone one powerful enough to run Vista. I mean, most of these folks have people have pop cans glued together with “computer” written on it. However, at the end of the night, I think we sold a grand total of five copies of Vista. I’m not saying five copies of each…I’m saying five copies total. Management through it would be a frenzy and had extra staff on for the shift but mostly, people weren’t biting.
Personally, I wasn’t surprised. The real requirements, not the minimum BS that’s on the bottom of the box, are steep. Of course, I’ve yet to install it myself but I think I will put it on my laptop tomorrow afternoon. I played around with it a tad night and, well, it seemed like it was just OSX…the Microsoft remix. OSX, of course, looks great so I guess Vista is the next best thing since you can’t install OSX on your PC. You can’t do jack on OSX compared to a PC but hey, the Mac OS has always looked better and worked better.
Anyways, I’ll get back to you on how well Vista works but judging solely on our sales, I can’t imagine Microsoft is very happy about this.

I agree. I mean, if you want to install Vista, most people will have to shell out money to buy a whole new system. Why bother, when WinXP will do the job for the most part?
If you had an older computer, there’s no point in buying Vista anyways. It probably won’t be able to handle it properly, and it works out more in your favor to just buy a new computer outright that will come pre-installed with Vista. That and many of the computer sold in the past few months came with a voucher for free Vista upgrade (like Dell).
