Freestyle Footballers Show Off
Remember all those joga bonito commercials that Nike had on during the last World Cup? These dudes put all that to shame. However. doing just about anything on a helipad probably makes it way more epic. Heck, you could do some extreme knitting on a helipad and it would look awesome. [...]
Read MoreWhat’s Up With RSS Numbers Today?
It seems there’s a bit of a glitch when it comes to the RSS numbers today as many sites are showing about half of their usual expected readers. Quick visits to the other Dot Com Pho members show John at 8701, Michael at 81 and Stephen at only 55. My eyes nearly popped out when I updated a couple minutes ago and saw my chicklet reading a lowly 67, which is roughly half of what I’ve been getting the past couple months.
It seems like Google isn’t finished with their latest rounds of PageRank updates as it looks like Michael has been dropped from a PR5 to a PR2. So far, I’m still at a PR4 but there’s no telling what will happen in the next little while. I’m almost sure Gary was a PR4 previously but it looks like The Daily Kimchi’s been dropped to a PR3. Speculation is that Google is punishing those who sell links on their sites, something Google probably wants to corner the market on.
In other news, it looks like Gary Lee’s been hacked as his front page display’s some sort of Turkish data processing…something. Good for you, buddy…we all know what an accomplishment hacking someone’s personal blog is. I’d imagine the sort of person that does something like this and spells their online persona with a combination of letters and numbers (and let’s not forget CAPS) must be the sort that hasn’t seen “outside” in awhile, has really greasy hair and probably has to wear mittens all the time. Good job, big guy. Go tell your mom. I’m sure she’s thrilled.
Let’s all wish Gary’s site a speedy recovery.

nah I think this drop hasn’t anything with google giving penalities, I think the answer is simple, the sites that linked to let say jimmy’s blog dropped, so the the google juice they give is now much lower than before, thus if you are unlucky and most of the sites that linked to you have had their pr decreased, giving you a new and lower PR.
Which kind of sucks but what can you do.

ReplyYeah I was a bit miffed at my PR drop but so far traffic has still been steady. But the RSS drop overnight is pretty weird, let’s hope they fix that soon!
Replyyes let’s hope gary’s site gets back up soon. and that readership numbers jump back up too. johncow wrote about it today too. hopefully it’s just a google reader glitch. on another note. you crack me up, man! “I’d imagine the sort of person that does something like this and spells their online persona with a combination of letters and numbers (and let’s not forget CAPS) must be the sort that hasn’t seen “outside” in awhile, has really greasy hair and probably has to wear mittens all the time.” LOL
ReplyThanks for the well wishes Ed, but it’s looking like the chances of the site coming back are slim. We’ll see though.
Replygood stuff my man!! lets hope the numbers go back up!!
ReplyJust why are there so many Turkish hackers?
Replywell it seems they are on some kind of jihad against Swedish hosting companies, after an artist here made a wooden dog resembling their prophet.
Also they just discovered the Internet, it’s like USA in the mid 80s.
ReplySame thing happened on my end, but looks like the RSS numbers are back to normal today… thanks Google!
ReplyYou’d think they’d turn some of that ingenuity into money-making operations, like porn. I think I’d be really interested in some good Turkish porn.
ReplyYes that’s true Rss subscribers are going crazy these days
