When To Start A Second Blog
July 21st, 2007 by Ed Lau |I mentioned awhile ago that I was struggling to find a specific niche in which to focus this blog. A few suggested that I further expand on my obsession with awesome and others recommended that I write more about zombies as, apparently, “There aren’t enough zombie blogs”. This is true but I’m not sure there’s enough interest in that specific niche and, well, my knowledge of zombies is limited to where I would make my fortress and what I’d use to smash them in the face.
The predominant answer I got when I asked what I should blog more on is…keep doing what I’m already doing. I’m happy that this many people want to read my insanity already so I’m not going to argue with my audience. Derrich and Kelly agreed with just about everyone else but they also suggested that if I want to blog on some niche, I should simply get another domain and start another blog on my specific interest. I’ve never professed to be a “make money online” authority so I definetely won’t be starting anything like that but there are a few topics on which I can claim to have some kind of knowledge.
Of course, that doesn’t mean I’ll stop writing on this site. Actually, I’m almost sure my new blog won’t be updated every single day (but still regularly and often) like my personal blog is. I will probably be something similar to the work I do for hardCOREware, which is a semi-regular basis. However, this gives me the opportunity to reach a more specific audience. That’s what starting a second blog is about, really. When you feel like you have something to say that doesn’t fit the demographic of your first site.
This will also mark the first contest I’ll be holding here so stay tuned as we’ll be starting it at the beginning of next month…and I promise it’ll be a cool prize.

I have considered starting another blog, but the one I have keeps me so busy already!
