Where The Hell Is Matt? In Vancouver!

Some of you might remember a video I posted awhile back of Matt, a self-described “30-year old deadbeat from Connecticut” who once wanted to spend all day playing and making video games but instead, spends all his time traveling around the world and making videos of himself dancing (poorly) in front of various landmarks and attractions.
A few weeks ago, he sent out an e-mail saying he’d be in Vancouver yesterday so I dropped by the location after class. Due to his “internet celebrity” status, I was sure a few people would be at the Inukshuk sculpture at English Bay…
…but I had no idea THIS many people would show up! There were probably about 100 people there, ready to boogie down for internet fame!
There were quite a few people with very…unique hair in attendance. You’ll see a few of them in the video below…although I think I missed the dude with the massive fro. Unfortunately, I forgot to…uh…not have a bad hair day today. Everyone was cool, though. Matt did tell us about some people that are a little strange, like one guy that had the logo from his “Where the Hell is Matt?” website tattooed…which is…probably a little too weird even for the internet.
We all signed waivers to be on camera and Matt’s travel sponsor, Stride Gum, gave us some wristbands.
Matt demonstrated the dance for us a few times but told us to dance however we want since, he said, he basically just flails his limbs around most of the time anyways. The whole deal took about half an hour with the crowd doing three 15-second dance clips…and one for “practice”. This one had all Matt dancing first and then all of us rushing in afterwards. Of course, I don’t have the video of it all actually happening but here’s the view from…my hand, which you can see is wildly flailing in every direction possible. I apologize in advance for the motion sickness…
Matt says he still has a bunch more places to visit but that the video should be done sometime in the summer of 2008.
And, of course, we had to have a little bit of a dance-off afterwards.
Dude gets to live the dream…just traveling the world. Great to meet you, Matt. I had a great time waving my hands in the air like I just don’t care.

Didn’t you just say that your knee was still bothering you? It didn’t look like it kept you from busting out those dance moves, although I wish it would have.
BTW, both of those video clips are displaying the same Dance Off.

Matt is awesome he was featured on Yahoo and I watched his videos at wherethehellismatt.com they’re really cool. Pretty soon he’ll run out of cool places to go to.

I remember watching the video here… very cool. Matt is definitely living the dream.
I think Matt has been featured on Yahoo! and has a lot of funny clips in different places..I’m not sure of that. Anyway, thanks for the great post and funny pics and videos.
