Freestyle Footballers Show Off
Remember all those joga bonito commercials that Nike had on during the last World Cup? These dudes put all that to shame. However. doing just about anything on a helipad probably makes it way more epic. Heck, you could do some extreme knitting on a helipad and it would look awesome. [...]

I usually don’t give a rat’s ass about the Grammy’s because…well, they’re usually wrong. Seriously, some of the stuff that wins or is even nominated is entirely wrong. For example, this year, who the heck is Herbie Hancock and how did he beat both Kanye and Amy Winehouse? Graduation isn’t Kanye’s strongest effort but it is still leaps and bounds over much of the music that came out this year. Back to Black, on the other hand, is a fantastic album and even if you’re not a fan of Amy Winehouse’s brand of music, you can appreciate how great the songs on the album are. Who the heck is Herbie Hancock?
By the way, I didn’t bother watching the show itself because I can’t stand awards shows but I love live performances. Kanye #%^ing kills in this performance. Daft Punk didn’t really have their entire signature look but damn, Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger never sounded better. Further evidence that Stronger is undoubtedly the song of the year, even though whoever picks the winners failed yet again to pick the right song.
Plenty of winners boggled the mind. I don’t know if Feist, Paramore or Amy Winehouse could be considered new artists since they’ve been around for several years now…each. And for some reason, Justin Timberlake, a pop artist, won in the dance category, beating…Justice. I might agree if it was Justice’s remix of Justin Timberlake’s winning song, Lovestoned/I Think She Knows.
Once again, entirely useless the Grammys.

Wow, he’s a great performer. Unlike most rappers, you can actually hear what he’s saying. And he isn’t stoned out of his mind. He’s not just yelling random shit to the beat of the song, with morons following him around yelling other random shit.
I am glad to see Daft Punk get some recognition… I have heard so much about “this great Kanye West song” from younger people.. they don’t even realize that the song existed like 10 years ago already.
ReplyThat singing bit was self-indulgent, pretentious and lame though.
ReplyHerbie Hancock is a musical genius mutha fucka, he started this gangsta shit, and this is the muthafucking thanks he gets?

ReplySeriously? You didn’t know who Herbie Hancock is? Seriously?
ReplyAnd that pretty sums up Kanye, because he is self-indulgent and pretentious.
You have to admit that he is one of today’s best live performers though.
ReplyEd, how can you NOT know who Herbie Hancock is!?!
ReplyHe’s the one who pioneered a lot of what we know as rhythm electronica nowadays. There would be no Daft Punk without Herbie!
Kanye is great when he keeps his mouth shut.
Never heard of him…not even close. However, now I’m intrigued…
ReplyThat’s Kanye.
But the song is a bit of a tribute to his mother, who recently died from complications during plastic surgery.
Replywho’s herbie hancock? wow, try knowing something about music before commenting on it.
and they classify new artists by their first album by a major label in the year it came out. and yes, they’re always wrong anyways.
ReplyYeah man, if you want others to take your musical interests seriously then you have to appreciate the pioneers of modern music. You’re kind of like a music critic who doesn’t know what Michael Jackson did for pop, paving the way for the likes of Justin Timberlake . . . or what Elvis did for rhythm & blues.
ReplyI didn’t watch the Grammy’s this year. I have not heard Herbie Hancock’s must yet. But I will have to look him up and listen to some of his stuff. Kanye West’s must is great. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyI meant to say “I have not heard Herbie Hancock’s music yet”. Not must. Sorry just tired. You can delete both comments. I will leave better comments tomorrow.
ReplyAnyone know at about what time the Kanye performance takes place on the show? I’m going to grab it in full 1080i, but I’m kind of lazy to go through the entire show to find it…
